Seven Peaks Resort Water Park will turn into a winter wonderland next November with the opening of an ice-skating rink, according to general manager Paul Mix.

The resort will put up a portable 65-foot by 100-foot rink just inside the water park entrance. The rink will be open Nov. 1 to March 31."Provo is in need of another skating rink," Mix said. "It's all in the tradition of keeping the thought in mind that when you think recreation you think Seven Peaks. It's one more thing we're able to offer the community."

Currently, the only skating rink in Utah County is at Utah Lake State Park. That rink has a capacity of 250 skaters per session and often turns people away when the limit is reached, according to park superintendent Steve Carpenter.

"I think the the community can support two rinks," he said.

In addition to the rink, Seven Peaks will have skate rental, warming huts and concession stands open for skaters.
