There's no doubt about it: AC Milan of Italy is the best soccer club in the world.
The Red and Black, led by its three stars from the Netherlands' national team, won its second straight world club championship by beating Olimpia of Paraguay 3-0 Sunday in the Intercontinental Cup.Defender Frank Rijkaard scored two goals and Giovanni Stroppa added one for AC Milan, the two-time European Champions Cup winner.
AC Milan became the first club to win consecutive world championships since hometown rival Internazionale of Milan beat Independiente of Argentina in 1964 and 1965. Santos of Brazil, Pele's old team, is the only other team to have won consecutive world titles (1962-63).
"We played a hard game in the first half, but a goal in the last minutes of the half changed the pace of the game," AC Milan coach Arrigo Sacchi said.
AC Milan won the world title last year with a 1-0 overtime victory over Atletico Nacional of Medellin (Colombia). AC Milan also won the world title in 1969, beating Estudiantes of Argentina.
