A construction worker helping to build the new Utah Jazz arena was seriously injured Saturday after he fell from a beam.

Mike Cordova, 20, of Salt Lake City, was walking along an I-beam about 8:45 a.m. at the construction site, 300 W. South Temple, when the accident occurred. He apparently walked past the last support on the beam, the beam then tipped and he fell about 35 feet and landed on concrete, said Salt Lake Police Lt. Judy Dencker.Cordova was taken to LDS Hospital, where he was in serious condition with head injuries and possible broken bones, a nursing supervisor said.
