Davis County School District bus drivers say they have called off negotiations with district officials until teachers vote on their contract. According to Karen Hillaker, bus driver association president, the drivers want to find out if teachers approve a contract that would mean a change in the district employee insurance coverage. District officials want to cut drivers' wages by an average of $2 and insurance benefits by one-half. The cuts would be phased in over a two-year period. Drivers are opposed to the cuts and say district officials are trying to force them to accept the cuts by threatening to privatize the bus system.
