The Northwest Community Health Center's new, expanded facility will help deliver medical care to those impeded by cultural or financial barriers.
The center, 1365 W. 1000 North, will celebrate its new facility with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday and a public open house Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. The 8,000-square-foot clinic was purchased, renovated and donated by Intermountain Health Care. The center has room for six medical providers and two dentists.Five health centers are managed by an umbrella organization, the Salt Lake Community Health Center. Three of the five centers are subsidized by a grant from the Public Health Service, and Intermountain Health Care assists in funding the other two.
More than 13,024 low-income residents of Salt Lake County were served in the five centers in 1989.
