Juab High School Principal Leonard Trauntvein was presented with the Utah Rural Schools Association 1988 Outstanding Rural Utah Secondary School Principal award.

The awards banquet was held at the Bunnell-Dimitrich Athletic Center at the College of Eastern Utah in Price Aug. 2 as part of the 10th annual Utah Rural Schools Conference.Trauntvein was honored for 22 years in public education including appointments as middle and high school principal in the Juab School District.

"Trauntvein is noted for his development of student activity oriented programs, especially for those programs which expand students experience beyond the classroom," the award read. "These have included extended field trips, participation in state and national competitions, and ventures into the stock market as a way of learning investment skills."

He was cited for his leadership in the Outcome Based Education movement in the Juab School District.
