Vilda Mason Nielson, age 85, died Wednesday December 5, 1990 at Dixie Regional Medical Center.
She was born September 17, 1905 in Aurora, Utah to William Ezra and Sabrina Eliza Harwood Mason. She married Miles L. Nielson September 20, 1922 in Richfield, Utah. He preceded her in death October 29, 1957.Reared and educated in Aurora, Utah, Mrs. Nielson has since lived in Richfield, Fillmore, and Salt Lake City before coming to St. George in 1987. She owned and opperated a ladies fashion shop in Fillmore. Served as president of Fillmore State Bank, president of Fillmore Fine Arts Guild, chairman of Millard County Red Cross durring World War II. She loved to garden, and served as president of Fillmore Garden Club, and was active in the Salt Lake Garden Club. An active member of the LDS Church, she has served as Primary president, taught in YWMIA, visiting teacher, and Special Interest group.
Surviving family members are one son and two daughters, Norman L. Nielson and Ora Loy Robison, both of St. George; Mrs. George (Betty) Zeruneith, Sun City, California; also 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ruth Anderson, Springville, Utah.
Funeral services will be held Saturday December 8, 1990 at 11 a.m. at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 West St. George Blvd, where friends may call Friday evening from 7-8 p.m. and again on Saturday, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Richfield City Cemetery Saturday at 4 p.m. under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary.
