Investigators have released the names of two men who died in a plane crash on the Great Salt Lake Friday.

The pilot was identified as Tad Florence, 25, of Clearfield. He and his passenger, Burt Finster, 30, of Hooper, Weber County, were killed in the crash and subsequent fire on Carington Island, about 30 miles west of Hill Air Force Base.The Federal Aviation Administration is continuing its probe into the crash.

Hill officials said both men were aircraft freight loaders at the base's Technology and Industrial Support Directorate.

The single-engine airplane - a Piper Arrow - crashed about 1 p.m. while on a return flight from Wendover to Hill Air Force Base. Witnesses said the plane clipped a ridge on the island, broke in two and burst into flames.
