Want to feel the spirit of Christmas and the satisfaction of sharing with those who are less fortunate?

Then join the Deseret News in providing a Christmas for the needy in the annual, adopt-a-family program, Santa's Helping Hand. For many years the Deseret News has assisted needy families by matching them with Deseret News readers to provide toys, gifts, food and clothing for Christmas. Last year, nearly 1,000 families and more than 3,500 children were helped.

The Deseret News is a member of the Salt Lake County Christmas Coordinating Council that works together to pool efforts to ensure that no one goes without on Christmas Day.

Deseret News readers will be invited to adopt families from a geographical designation in the valley, west of 2200 West and south of 4500 South to provide an "adequate Christmas," based on individual need.

Donors wishing to help should call the Deseret News Santa's Helping Hand at 237-2139. A donor family or individual is matched with a needy family with two or three children, while several families often share their resources for a larger family.
