John Morse, who failed five times to gain his PGA Tour card, won the Australian Open in sudden death Sunday.

Morse, of Orlando, Fla., parred the first playoff hole to beat Australian Craig Parry. Parry missed a 6-foot putt for par on the same hole, the par-4 17th.Morse shot 4-under-par 68 in the final round, while third-round leader Parry slumped to a par 72 for a share of the lead at 5-under 283.
