A 62-year-old Clearfield man died in a mobile-home fire around noon Sunday that destroyed the home, two vehicles, and damaged a second mobile-home unit, according to Clearfield Fire Chief Roger Bodily.

The victim is identified as Boyd Conatser, 406 N. 1250 West. According to Bodily, the man was not breathing and his heart had stopped when firefighters arrived at the scene. They administered CPR, but he was declared dead on arrival at Humana Hospital Davis North in Layton.The fire was reported at 11:46 a.m. and the Clearfield department responded with 18 firefighters by 11:50 a.m. Flames were visible on the south side of the singlewide unit when they arrived, firefitghters reported.

Cause of the fire is being investigated by the state fire marshal's office and an autopsy on the victim is being conducted by the state medical examiner's office, Bodily said.

The fire destroyed the mobile home, firefighters said, and damage to the unit along with a car and recreational vehicle next to it is estimated at $55,000.
