Hungarians angry about the noise caused by low-flying Soviet military jets have succeeded in persuading the Soviets to reduce the number of training flights and to fly at a higher altitude, it was reported this week.

A rare "village meeting" took place between residents of the small towns of Szigethalom and Szazhalombatta in central Hungary and commanders at the nearby Soviet base of Toekoel early this week.State television said the Hungarians pointed out cracks in walls they said were caused by the piercing noise of low-flying jets.
