Southland Elementary will be the 21st school in the Jordan District to adopt a year-round calendar. The change will be effective for the 1991-92 school year.

The transfer of 259 students from Rosamond overloaded Southland, making the year-round scheduling necessary, officials said. Students will be on four tracks with a modified 45-15 day calendar.Students in the Victorian Station subdivision will be assigned to Monte Vista Elementary. The boundary line between Rosamond and Southland will be at 13800 South, the city line between Riverton and Bluffdale. The boundary between Monte Vista and Southland will move south from 11800 South to a line through fields at 12100 South.

The Jordan School Board also considered a proposal recently that would make Jordan Ridge Elementary a year-round school. A committee of school officials and parents has been planning the potential change.

Parents told the board they would prefer having a program for gifted and talented students relocated than to have extensive boundary changes as the community grows. The board will act on the proposal later.
