The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has issued its annual Christmas message, calling for peace and a rededication to the principles of Christianity.
"At a Christmas season in which we witness turmoil in the world, we pause to remember that the gospel of our Savior, Jesus Christ, is our only hope for peace on Earth and good will toward mankind."The message quotes scripture announcing the birth of Jesus Christ and ends with the church leaders' hope that all people will rededicate themselves to living his gospel principles.
The message is from Ezra Taft Benson, world leader and prophet of the church, and his counselors in the First Presidency, President Gordon B. Hinckley and President Thomas S. Monson.
The complete text of the message will be printed in Saturday's Church News.
