A Price optometrist will have his license placed on two years probation beginning Dec. 7, an order said.

Barry Paul Cook can still practice while on probation, the order said, but his practice will be reviewed by licensing regulators.According to the order issued by the state Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing, Cook went beyond the legal scope of his practice by treating a growth in a patient's eye.

Cook also dispensed a prescriptive ointment to the patient, which optometrists aren't allowed to do, the order said.

The order noted that Cook's unauthorized treatment did not harm the patient.
