Tooele County authorities say that Monday morning they will release the names of the two persons killed in a plane crash on Carrington Island.
"The victims haven't been positively identified," said Mike Paget, Tooele County sheriff's dispatcher. Paget said the state medical examiner's office is using dental records to verify the identities. The two were killed Friday when the small plane they were flying clipped a ridge on the island in the Great Salt Lake about 1:30 p.m. and crashed near the shore, bursting into flames. The flames from the crash ignited a brush fire that burned about 40 acres on the uninhabited island.
The plane was leased by the Hill Air Force Base Aero Club and the victims were apparently returning to the base from Wendover when the crash occurred.
The National Transportation and Safety Board is investigating the crash.
