Tod Bernard scored a career-high 29 points and grabbed 15 rebounds Saturday night, leading Fresno State to an 87-77 victory over Southern Utah.

Fresno State (2-2) took a 38-37 halftime lead on a 3-point shot by Wilbert Hooker at the buzzer. Hooker fired up the shot from just beyond halfcourt.Southern Utah (1-3) took a 3-point lead early in the second half, but the Bulldogs of Fresno used a 10-4 run to open a 58-54 lead with 12:20 remaining to play.

Carl Ray Harris added 20 points, also a career high, for Fresno State and Dave Barnett added 13. Da Vor Marcelic led Southern Utah with 21 points, and Richard Barton had 18 and 11 rebounds.
