Gary Steele, former assistant principal at Bingham High School, has been named principal at West Jordan Middle School.

He succeeds M. Glayde Hill, who was dimissed by the Jordan Board of Education after hearings regarding mishandling of school funds. Hill was not accused of theft but had ignored district policy, said district spokeswoman Patty Dahl. After the irregularities were announced in September, Hill was accorded due process hearings according to district guidelines. He was discharged during a board meeting Tuesday evening.

Eduardo Alva, former assistant principal at Midvale Middle School, went to Bingham to replace Steele in the assistant's post there.

The district board also announced that Brent D. Craig, who has been director of food services for Tooele Valley Regional Health Care System, is the new director of food services for Jordan.

Craig succeeds Margaret Butterfield in the position.
