Santa is comin' to town Saturday as Bountiful kicks off its holiday season with a parade.

The parade's theme this year is "Christmas Around the World," which was chosen to help people remember the soldiers in Operation Desert Shield, said Shauna Knighton of the Bountiful Jaycees, which organizes the annual parade. The parade, which will feature 30 to 40 entries, will begin at 1500 South at 10 a.m. and proceed along Main Street to 300 North.

Paradegoers will likely notice yellow ribbons tied on telephone poles and trees along the route. Local Boy Scout troops placed the ribbons to help remind people of the U.S. soldiers in the Middle East.

From Dec. 3-6, people wishing to donate gifts to the soldiers can place gifts in boxes at the Dive Shop at Five Points Mall; the Golden Years Senior Citizens Center, 726 S. 100 East; Carr Stationary, 185 S. Main; and Servus Drug, 295-2347.

The Girl Scouts will then box the gifts and ship them to the troops in Operation Desert Shield, Knighton said.
