The J. Willard Marriott Library at the University of Utah has been selected by the United States Patent and Trademark Office to test a new patent search system.

Beginning July 1991, the Marriott Library will offer the Automated Patent System, which allows electronic access to the U.S. patent database, including full patent texts. The service will be available to the community at no charge.The library provides access to electronic patent information for individual inventors, patent attorneys, industrial companies, research firms, public schools and the public.

The Marriott Library, one of 69 U.S. patent depository libraries, was selected with 13 others for the one-year pilot project.
