The Minority Business Development Agency of the Department of Commerce is soliciting applications to operate a minority business development center in Salt Lake City for three years, according to the Nov. 26 Federal Register.

The agency funds organizations that can coordinate and broker public and private resources on behalf of minority individuals and firms and offer management and technical assistance. The cost of the center for the first year is estimated at $165,000 in federal funds and at least $29,000 in other contributions.The agency is accepting applications from individuals, organizations, local and state governments, Indian tribes and educational institutions. Applicants will be evaluated based on their ability to address the special needs of minority businesses and resources to provide business development services.
