Cooperation among several organizations was instrumental in Salt Lake City being named the top city in the country for doing business by Fortune Magazine, according to Rick Thrasher, president of the Utah Economic Development Corp.

For its part in helping receive that honor, Thrasher presented a framed copy of a resolution from the UEDC board of trustees and a color copy of the magazine's front cover to Mark Miller, chairman of the Salt Lake Area Chamber of Commerce's board of governors.Thrasher said Salt Lake City receiving the honor wouldn't be possible without the cooperation of many people answering questions about the business climate in the area, posing for pictures and hosting Fortune Magazine officials.

Earlier this month, Gov. Norm Bangerter and UEDC hosted Geoffrey Colvin, a member of the magazine's board of editors, during a breakfast and luncheon to say thanks for Salt Lake City being honored.
