Our mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Esther Pauline Olsen Holladay, died November 28, 1990 in a local care center.
Born July 16, 1899, Brigham City, to Dr. Charles L. and Pauline Heinz Olsen. Married John L. Holladay in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on September 14, 1921. He died June 12, 1982. She attended local schools and graduated from the University of Utah in 1918. Active in the LDS Church, she served as Relief Society President in Kuna, Idaho and Vancouver, Washington, and as a Primary teacher and Relief Society Work Director in Holladay. As Vice-President of Estell Corp., she co-owned and operated the Estell Rest Home and Millcreek Terrace Nursing Home with her sister Stella until she retired in 1980.Survived by a daughter, Ruth Waters; sons, Don and Lee, all from Salt Lake City, Richard from Moab, and Brent from Draper; 22 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; sisters, Stella, Florence and Lorraine, all from St. George, and Irene, of Boulder City, Nevada. Preceded in death by sons, Duane and Robert.
At her request, there will be graveside services at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park (Gilcrest section - approximately the middle of the park), on Monday, December 3rd, at 1:00 p.m. Friends may call Sunday evening from 6 to 8 and Monday from 12 to 12:45 p.m. at the Holbrook Funeral Chapel, 3251 So. 2300 East.
