Tellers at a Manhattan bank refused to wait on a would-be bank robber Friday, and he responded by leaving a toy grenade on the counter before running away.

The bank was evacuated and a part of busy Broadway was shut to traffic at the height of the morning rush hour.Employees at the Anchor Bank on Broadway and several floors of its midtown office building were evacuated. A small portion of Broadway was closed, snarling traffic and leaving almost a hundred office workers outside the building in near-freezing temperatures.
