A Salt Lake man has been charged with the Nov. 5 armed robbery of a Layton grocery store and is being investigated in connection with similar robberies in other Wasatch Front cities, according to Layton police.

Layton detective Jim Andrews, in cooperation with police in Salt Lake City, Murray and Provo, arrested the man Thursday.William J. Smith, 33, Salt Lake City, was booked into the Davis County Jail Thursday on a warrant charging him with aggravated robbery, according to police and jail officials.
