Noriyuki Suzuki was obviously delighted to be the 300,000th visitor at the Salt Lake Visitors Center in downtown Salt Lake City. Suzuki, an engineer with Nippon Steel Corp., was greeted by Salt Lake Convention & Visitors Bureau President Richard E. Davis and presented with an assortment of gifts, including a Salt Lake sweatshirt, mug, poster, and cap. Suzuki, from Kitakyushi City, Japan, will try to return to Salt Lake City when the city hosts Japan American week May 25 to June 1. More than 2,000 Japanese visitors are expected to participate. This is the first year the city visitors center has hosted more than 300,000 visitors. Last year's total was 222,717; in 1985, the total was 90,650.
