Hardware Ranch's horse-drawn sleigh rides will begin for the winter season Dec. 15, and this winter there will be something extra for people making the trip up Blacksmith Fork Canyon.

Scott and Shelly Woolstenhulme, who operate the sleigh rides through wintering herds of elk, also have opened a restaurant at the Utah Wildlife Resources Division's working ranch 15 miles east of Hyrum. The restaurant in the visitors' center will serve snacks and Western-style barbecue dinners, the concessionaires said.

The rides through the elk herds will begin Dec. 15, regardless of the amount of snow on the ground. Division spokesman Bruce Andersen said, if there isn't enough snow for the horse-drawn sleighs, wagons will be used until snow covers the ground.
