Salt Lake City has won the bid to host the annual USA-Republic of China Economic Council conference Sept. 19-20, 1991.

The conference is expected to bring some 800 American and Taiwanese business leaders, corporate presidents and trade experts to Utah for an exchange on trade issues such as investment, imports and exports.Economic development officials said the key reason Salt Lake City was selected to host the conference was the conference organizers' desire to honor Ambassador David Kennedy.

Kennedy founded the economic council as part of his effort to strengthen ties between the Republic of China and the United States.
