A Salt Lake County woman and a Logan woman and her unborn child died earlier this week from injuries suffered in motor vehicle accidents in Cache and Salt Lake counties.
Killed in the accidents were:Jenni Hunsaker Richards, 31, of the Holladay area.
Becky Rupp Knechtel, 23, Logan, and an unborn 6-month fetus, who has been given the name of Tyler Rupp Knechtel.
Richards died Monday at Cottonwood Hospital following an accident about 8:50 a.m. Sunday at 6200 S. Holladay Blvd. The eastbound van she was driving left the right side of the road and hit a sign post near a freeway on ramp, according to Salt Lake County sheriff's office records.
Richards, who was alone in her vehicle, suffered head injuries. She had been in the hospital's coronary intensive care unit.
The accident was investigated by the Salt Lake County sheriff's office. Funeral services for Richards were held Thursday in Holladay.
Knechtel was injured Monday morning in a two-vehicle crash at 2500 N. Main St. (U.S. 91) in Logan. The woman was injured when her vehicle, which was attempting a left-hand turn from the Logan Airport road onto U.S. 91, collided with a southbound vehicle driven by Delton Humpherys, 33, Richmond. He was not injured.
Knechtel's baby was delivered dead at Logan Regional Medical Hospital. She was transported by air ambulance to McKay-Dee Hospital, Ogden, where she died Tuesday of head injuries, according to a nursing supervisor. Funeral services will be held Saturday in Magna, Salt Lake County.
The Logan accident was investigated by the North Park Police Department.
