In order to keep pace with state efforts and to allow participation in the state's Historic Preservation Local Government Certification Program, Utah County will establish a Historic Preservation Commission.
The panel will be responsible for surveying historic, architectural and archeological resources within the community and will be authorized to apply for matching grants after consulting the County Commission. The panel will maintain and allow the public to inspect survey and inventory documents. It will also recommend sites for the National Register and will support enforcement of state laws pertaining to historic preservation.The panel will consists of five members who serve two-year terms. Two panel members must be professionals as defined by several history preservation societies. The panel will meet twice annually.
