State licensing regulators have accused a Sandy company of defrauding customers by mislabeling the insulation it installed in Salt Lake County homes.
Between 1986 and 1988, VanderVeur Insulation Co. installed Redi-Therm insulation at seven locations. But the company attached cards to the attic joists at each location saying the insulation was a Cellulose Insulation Manufacturing Inc. product, according to a petition issued by the state Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing. The petition didn't explain the differences between the two products.
VanderVeur didn't remove the cards after Cellulose asked the Utah company to do so, the petition said.
The division has requested sanctions against the firm's license.
