The third of four sessions in the Deseret News Ski School gets under way at Alta Saturday morning.
Hundreds of beginning skiers will be on hand in the newspaper-sponsored ski school, one of the nation's oldest, to continue instruction in downhill or cross country skiing. The two-hour classes begin at 9:30 a.m. at the Little Cottonwood resort to give the beginning skiers a chance to try out on new snow what they learned at the Nov. 17 session at the ski resort.
Students are to meet at the Albion Day Lodge for assignment to instructors. In Saturday's clinic, a few of the more advanced beginners will be taken on the chair lift for instruction on the upper slopes. Those not "quite ready will have to wait until the fourth session," according to Alf Engen, co-director.
