Tamara McKinney, a fixture on the international ski circuit for 13 years, announced Tuesday she was retiring from the U.S. Ski Team because of a serious injury.
McKinney, a three-time Olympian, suffered a devastating leg injury in Oct. 1989 and was never able to work herself back into competitive shape. The 28-year-old collected more World Cup titles and World Championship medals in her 13 years on the U.S. Ski Team than any other American woman.
