Ballet West travels to extreme north and south points in the United States to tour its "Nutcracker" during the next two weekends.

The company goes to Anchorage, Alaska, for the second time, for a seven-performance engagement at the Alaska Performing Arts Center, Nov. 29-Dec. 3. Anchorage presenters hope to duplicate their 1989 sellout for Ballet West's performances. The company will go to Texas for four performances on Dec. 7-9, in San Antonio's Lila Cockrell Theatre - their fourth trip to the Texas city. In addition, special performances for children will be presented in both locations.

With the exception of Clara, Fritz and the Nephew, who travel from Salt Lake City, children from both tour communities will dance the children's parts. Their dances have been taught by rehearsal mistress Bene Arnold and rehearsed by local teachers.

The tour performances will precede 20 performances of "The Nutcracker" in the Capitol Theatre, Dec. 13-29.
