Salt Lake County Sheriff-elect Aaron Kennard has selected a chief deputy who will serve as his No. 2 man.

Salt Lake County Sheriff's Capt. Darrell Brady, 56, will be appointed chief deputy when Kennard officially becomes sheriff in January. Brady is currently the east patrol captain.Kennard said Brady is "highly respected" among both officials and on-the-street deputies, and will bring great leadership to the sheriff's office. Kennard said he hopes to also appoint three majors to supervise the nearly 600 sworn deputies and sheriff's office volunteers.

Sue Evans, currently Salt lake County Commissioner Bart Barker's administrative secretary, will move over to be Kennard's administrative secretary.

Kennard defeated three-term sheriff Pete Hayward in a close election battle earlier this month.
