Hazel Jensen Funk, age 92, of Richmond, died Thursday, November 22, 1990, in Downey, Idaho.
Born October 22, 1898 in Bear River City, Utah, daughter of James Peter and Aurelia Andersen Jensen. She attended Brigham Young College, in Logan. Taught school in Bear River. Graduated Utah State University with a BA. Served an LDS Mission to Kelsey, Texas.She married Cyril R. Funk, prominent Dairy Farmer, July 15, 1926 in the Logan LDS Temple. He passed away in 1975. She began teaching again at age 60, at Willard and Brigham City. Upon retiring pursued interests with travel, temple service, association with family and friends. Served in the LDS Church as Relief Society president for 7 years, taught the literary lessons 37 years. Member of the DUP. Member Richmond Literary Club.
Survived by six children, Mrs. Bert R. (Anna Laura) Wheeler, Idaho Falls; Dr. and Mrs. Cyril Reed Funk, East Brunswick, New Jersey; Dr. and Mrs. Kenneth N. (Helen June) Cutler, Belmont, Mass.; Mrs. Nelson (Mary Lou) Cordon, Ogden; Mrs. Kenneth (Ramona Anita) Turner, Chubbuck, Idaho; Dr. and Mrs. Clarence John Funk, San Diego; 29 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren, a brother and sister, Lincoln Jensen, Mrs. Mark (Nora) Brightenberg, both Brigham City. Preceded in death by two grandchildren, two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, 1 p.m. in the Richmond 4th Ward Chapel, conducted by Bishop Wyndon Ward, 150 South 1st East, where friends may call Monday evening 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday, from 11-12:30 p.m. Burial, Richmond Cemetery. Services under the direction of Webb Funeral Home.
