Joseph LeRoy Butler, age 80, died on November 22, 1990 in a Salt Lake hospital of natural causes.

He was born December 18, 1909 in Eureka, Utah; to Joseph Herbert and Mabel Elizabeth Nichols Butler. He married Signe Leonia Bessie Bruse on September 18, 1930 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, she died May 22, 1986. Married Ethel Dinneen on March 5, 1988 in Salt Lake. He was a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. Shipping clerk and truck driver for Hewlett Bros. Active in the Murray and Kaysville Senior Citizen Centers. Active member of the LDS Church, serving in the High Priest Group leadership and various other positions. Temple worker in the Salt Lake Temple for 17 years.Survived by his wife, West Jordan; sons and daughters, J. (Bud) LeRoy, Jr. and wife Patricia, Kaysville; Vivian Erickson and husband Orrin, Petersburg, Virginia; Frances Brady and husband Earl, Clinton, Utah; Kenneth and wife Glenda, Bountiful; Mabel Josephson and husband Boyd, St. Anthony, Idaho; Richard W. and wife Lois, Salt Lake; 31 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Mabel Smith, Alfred, both Salt Lake; Doris Boynton, Midvale; Howard, Woods Cross; Gladys Arnesen, Bountiful; Raymond, Bellflower, Calif., Ralph, American Fork.

Funeral services will be held Monday, 1 p.m. in the Millcreek 8th LDS Ward, 600 East 4558 So. Friends may call Sunday, from 6-8 p.m. at the Jenkins Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State; and Monday at the church one hour prior to service. Interment Salt Lake City Cemetery.
