Police are investigating the Sunday death of a 2-year-old Ogden boy as a homicide after preliminary autopsy results showed he died of injuries police say are consistent with a beating.
"He didn't die a normal death," Ogden Detective Capt. Marlin Balls said Tuesday.Although autopsy results by the state medical examiner are incomplete, Balls said they showed Preston Sherman suffered trauma to the body consistent with a beating and had a swollen brain.
Paramedics were called to the home of a neighbor of the boy's Sunday night by his mother's boyfriend, Frank Archuleta.
Archuleta told police he was in the living room, and he heard the boy scream. He said he found the boy gasping on the floor of the bathroom.
The boy's mother, Nancy Delgado, told police she was not home at the time.
