Gov. Norm Bangerter signs a proclamation Saturday designating August 1991 as Gospel Music Month, when an estimated 16,000 people will gather in Salt Lake City for a six-day convention of the Gospel Music Workshop of America. Also Saturday, the society formally installed a Rocky Mountain Chapter. As of this week, 3,000 hotel rooms have been booked for August 1991, Salt Lake Convention and Visitors Bureau officials say. They expect 17,800 room-nights will be booked eventually, with the convention resulting in an economic boost of $4.5 million.
