The New York Public Library has more than 100 items from its collections assembled for "Charles Dickens: His Life and Work," an exhibition now on show through April 13, 1991. Included is Dickens' own copy of "A Christmas Carol," in addition to manuscripts, autograph letters, playbills, photographs and illustrations.

In another gallery, the library is showing "Yosemite Valley: Photography's Landscape," through Feb. 2, 1991. This is a collection of original vintage photographs and eight sets of stereoscopic views, the works of photographers such as the 19th century's Carleton E. Watkins and Charles L. Weed and, later, Ansel Adams.
