Utah's 1990 potato production is forecast at 170 million pounds, up 16 percent from a year ago, according to the Utah Agricultural Statistics Service.

Farmers harvested 6,300 acres, up 3 percent from last year, and had an average yield of 27,500 pounds per acre compared with 24,500 in 1989.Fall potato production nationally is forecast at 34.2 billion pounds, up 5 percent from last year. Acreage for harvest is 1.15 million, up 6 percent from a year ago, and the average yield is forecast at 29,800 pounds per acre, down 100 pounds from 1989.
