Britain's Queen Elizabeth II paid a visit Friday to a Royal Air Force Base in Germany, which is providing some units to the multinational military operation in the Persian Gulf. The Laarbruch base, near the German-Netherlands border, is home to 6,500 British troops and their families, and squadrons of Tornado fighter jets. The British monarch was welcomed by about 600 British children. She also met with leaders of the nearby German communities. It was her seventh visit to Germany, but her first since East and West reunified Oct. 3.
