The NCAA has ruled that a game program that the University of Nevada planned to sell at Saturday's playoff game with Northeast Louisiana violates association rules because it includes gambling casino advertisements.

Nevada-Reno officials knew that the programs were banned by the NCAA but believed the ban would be waived as it was in 1986 when the Wolf Pack appeared in the playoffs.More than 80 percent of the programs were printed with the casino advertisement before the ban was issued. The school expected to sell some 2,000 programs at Saturday's game which is expected to attract about 17,000 fans.

The university has reached agreement with the Reno Gazette Journal newspaper to publish a special section on the game Friday. The section will also be distributed at the Division I-AA playoff game.
