Top-ranked Colorado and Notre Dame, who will meet in the Orange Bowl for the second straight year, each placed three players on the 1990 Football News All-America team.

Running back Eric Bieniemy, offensive lineman Joe Garten and linebacker Alfred Williams of Colorado are on the first team along with wide receiver Rocket Ismail, center Mike Heldt and defensive lineman Chris Zorich of Notre Dame.Brigham Young and Miami each have two players on the squad. BYU is represented by quarterback Ty Detmer and tight end Chris Smith, while Miami has defensive lineman Russell Maryland and linebacker Maurice Crum.

Also on the offensive team are running back Darren Lewis of Texas A&M, wide receiver Herman Moore of Virginia and linemen Antone Davis of Tennessee, Stacy Long of Clemson and Ed King of Auburn. The placekicker is Philip Doyle of Alabama.

Rounding out the defense are lineman Kenny Walker of Nebraska, linebackers Huey Richardson of Florida and Darrick Brownlow of Illinois, and backs Darryl Lewis of Arizona, Ken Swilling of Georgia Tech, Tripp Welborne of Michigan and Jesse Campbell of North Carolina State.

The punter is Cris Shale of Bowling Green.
