About 320 Weber County residents will have new jobs when the 115,583 square-foot Wal-Mart store opens at 1050 W. Riverdale Road next summer.
County residents will be hired as department managers, cashiers, sales clerks, receiving clerks and office clerks. Interview dates and locations will be announced prior to the store opening.David Glass, Wal-Mart president and chief executive officer, said that in addition to the salaries and benefits paid to the employees, the Wal-Mart will increase retail traffic and sales tax revenue for the community.
Glass said each year a deserving student from the area will receive a $1,000 scholarship funded by the local store. Wal-Mart employees also will participate in community proj-ects by combining locally raised funds with a matching grant from the Wal-Mart Foundation.
