Union workers at the J.R. Simplot Co. phosphate fertilizer plant in Pocatello have ratified a three-year contract including pay raises and a $1,800 bonus in the first year.

The new pact gives members of the Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers Union Local 2-652 a 45-cent-per-hour pay increase during the first year and 3-percent raises during the second and third years.The first-year bonus will be paid in $450 quarterly installments, according to the agreement.

Fred Gray, Simplot group manager for labor relations, said employees also were given pension and health insurance improvements.
