BYU head football coach LaVell Edwards said Monday that he expects all-conference safety Troy Long to be with the Cougars this season despite some off-season disciplinary action.
Long had been "counseled" to drop out of school for disciplinary reasons during the off-season, according to BYU officials, and there had been some question as to whether he would return to the team."It appears that he will be with us this year," said Edwards, whose team begins practice Thursday.
According to BYU officials, the disciplinary action was not the result of academic problems.
Long led BYU in defensive scoring and tackles last year and was named to the All-WAC first team.
