The Blue Mountain Shadows Magazine, Blanding, has received a Certificate of Commendation from the American Association for State and Local History for contributions to local history.
The association conferred the award at its 50th anniversary annual meeting in Washington, D.C., in September. The association's awards program is the nation's most prestigious competition for local history achievement and recognizes individuals and institutions that have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of state and local history.Nominations originate at the local level and are screened at the state, regional or provincial levels by a national network of judges.
A national selection committee, composed of leaders in the history field, met in Nashville at the association's national headquarters in July to review 131 nominations. Twenty-five Awards of Merit and 66 Certificates of Commendation were awarded, as well as one Award of distinction.
