Smith's Food & Drug Centers Inc. plans to open a 70,000-square-foot superstore in Park City during 1992.
The $6 million store will be located at the corner of Park Avenue and Kearns Boulevard in the Snow Creek project, a development of Mariah Properties, Inc.In addition to an in-store bakery, service deli, service meat and bulk foods departments, the store will feature a dry-cleaning service, bank, yogurt shop and Chinese take-out kitchen. It also will have a discount pharmacy, one-hour photo finishing, video rental center and a floral shop.
"The Park City area, Summit County and the Heber area are in a tremendous growth and progress mode and we are anxious to open a store which will serve the needs of the residents of those markets and look forward to being a part of the Park City community," said Jeff Smith, Smith's chairman.
Smith's operates 96 stores in Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Wyoming, Arizona, New Mexico and West Texas. Eight stores are scheduled for opening in Southern California in 1991. Smith's employs about 15,000 people with annual sales in excess of $2 billion.
