Because of unusual circumstances, a husband and wife are both patients in the intensive care unit of American Fork Hospital.
Jim Edwards, 77, of American Fork, took his wife to the hospital because she was suffering chest pains. June Edwards was admitted to the intensive care at American Fork Hospital at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.Jim Edwards left the hospital to get some of his wife's things from home. Lehi Police Lt. Karl Zimmerman said Jim Edwards was traveling north on 850 West in Lehi when the car he was driving collided with an eastbound pickup truck on State Road 73. The truck was driven by 42-year-old Clarence Ward of Lehi.
Jim Edwards was transported to the hospital and is in serious but stable condition, said Marilee Wendel, nursing supervisor. He has a broken rib and abrasions. June Edwards is in stable condition.
Ward was treated at American Fork Hospital and released, according to public relations director Jill Owensby.
